MOL DP Training Center NI Accredited Courses: 2. DP Simulator Course

(1) Minimum Qualification - To take the course you must have

completed the DP Induction Course and possess a minimum of 60 days of DP sea time.
In addition, all elements of the scheme must be completed within five years of finishing the DP Induction Course.

(2) Training content

This course principally involves simulated DP operations, including errors, faults and failures, giving the participants the opportunity to apply the lessons learnt in both the Induction Course and subsequent DP sea time days. It covers the following topics:

Practical operation of the DP system
DP Operations
DP alarms, warnings and emergency procedures.

(3) Training Period

Day 1　8:30-17:30
Day 2　8:30-17:30
Day 3　8:30-17:30
Day 4　8:30-17:30
Day 5　8:30-17:30 (Depending on the test result and the course progress)

(4) Capacity

2 to 4 people
Note: The course can be conducted with one participant; however, due to the nature of the exercises, participation with at least two participants is recommended.

MOL DP Training Center – DP Simulator Room and Debriefing Room

(6) Assessment

• ①Online assessment (Day 5)
  In order to be awarded a Certificate of Completion for the Simulator Course, the trainee must pass an online assessment in English at the training center. The online assessment will consist of 30 questions.
  Students who fail at the first attempt are allowed to have another two attempts within six months of the first attempt; however, the second attempt must be undertaken within 96 hours of the first attempt.
  Failing these three initial attempts, the student is required to repeat the Simulator Course and undertake the assessment again.
• ②Practical assessment
  Each candidate is required to demonstrate their competence to perform the tasks listed in the DP Set-up Practical Assessment Table.

(7) Course Certificate

On successful completion of this course, the trainee Dynamic Positioning Operator will be issued with a Course Certificate and a recorded in Simulator course section of Dynamic Positioning Operator’s logbook.

(8) Course Tuition Fee per person

JPY 385,000 (JPY 423,500 incl. tax)
* Please note even if he/she fail the exam after three attempts, there will be no refunds.
